Charles was a Chi Gong instructor and professional photographer for many years before embarking on the practice of contemplative arts and Forest Bathing. At university his focus was on the humanities and environmental studies, including forest ecology. About this time he embarked on a mindfulness practice and discovered that wakefulness and perception are key to understanding our world. Visual images and the creative process have long been a passion for him, from the days of darkrooms to lightrooms.

He studied contemplative photography with various teachers and mentors in the Buddhist and Taoist traditions. For many years he has taught independently with my Mindful Eye program and through Nalanda Miksang where he has expanded his explorations and practice in the contemplative traditions.
